 Step 1: Install the Alexa App

  1. First of all, open the play store.
  2. From the play store search for the Amazon Alexa app.
  3. After that, select the install option.
  4. Then open the app and log in with your Amazon account.

 

Step 2: Set up the TP-Link smart plug with WiFi

After installing the Alexa app, you need to install the Kasa smart app on the device. Then you need to connect the TP-Link smart plug with your WiFi network. First of all, connect the smart device with the wall. Now you need to wait for the orange light. In order to proceed further, connect your mobile with the smart plug’s setup network.

 

Step 3: Set up a TP-Link Smart Plug with Alexa

  1. First of all, you need to launch the Alexa app on your mobile phone.
  2. Then in the bottom right corner, go-to devices.
  3. In the device, click on the plus sign to add a new device.
  4. After that, a pop-up will appear on the screen. Select add devices from the pop-up.
  5. Now you have to select the “Kasa Smart” brand.
  6. To proceed with the next step, your TP-Link should be already set up.
  7. Then click on the continue tab.
  8. In the next step, click on the “Enable to use” tab to activate the TP-Link Kasa skill for Alexa. 
  9. After this step, a pop-up will appear. Enter the email id and password that you use for your Kasa account.
  10. To link your device with Alexa, click on the “Authorize” tab.
  11. To return to the Alexa app, you need to click on the done button.
  12. Then click on the discover devices.
  13. Click on setup devices after your plug is discovered.
  14.  Now click on choose group to create a group.
  15. After that, you have to choose the room where your plug is located and then click on the add to group button.
  16. To complete the setup, click on the done button.
