Once you have installed the application, connect your Echo Dot speaker to the power outlet and wait till it starts speaking to you. When you open the Alexa application for the very first time, it will prompt you to sign in using your Amazon account login credentials and after that, you can connect it to the Echo Dot device.

Amazon Echo Dot devices can connect to the wireless network, but to get there you have to connect the device to your smartphone. The process will begin with an orange light present on the top of your device to let you know that your Echo Dot is ready to connect.   • Open the Amazon Alexa app.

  • Toggle the Bluetooth for letting your phone find the device.
  • Choose the device from the list.
  • Select the Wi-Fi network that you want to connect with your Echo Dot device.
  • Tap to Continue once your Echo Dot device is successfully connected to the wireless network for customization.
  • If you want to connect your Echo Dot device to the external speaker,  you can choose the output here. Otherwise, you can simply go with Amazon Echo Dot built-in speaker.
  • Choose the room where the Amazon Echo Dot device is located.
