  • Now, press the mute button on your device to mute your Echo device.
  • After pressing the mute button, the ring light on the device will turn red.
  • Leave your Alexa muted and connected to the internet connection for about one hour.
  • Now, your Alexa will check and download the updated version of the software.
  • Once your Alexa software completes, your device will reboot and then start working.

 

Manual Method to update the Alexa software

You can update the Alexa software manually as well. Follow the below steps to update the Alexa software manually:

  • First of all, turn on your Alexa and connect it to the WiFi network.
  • Now, open the Alexa app on your smartphone and then go to the devices tab.
  • After that, you need to click on the Echo dot tab.
  • Next, degrister your Alexa device from the Alexa app.
  • Then, turn off your Alexa device for about 1 minute.
  • Do not give any command to your Alexa device for the next one hour.
  • A green light will start spinning on your Alexa device which indicates that your device is updating.
  • Once your device is updated it will reboot automatically.
  • Next, you may need to complete the setup of your Alexa device.
  • Click on the setup button and follow all on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
  • Then, again register your device with the Alexa app and connect it to the WiFi network.
  • Now, your Alexa device is ready to use.
