Alexa Not Responding: Troubleshooting Steps to Follow
For using the Alexa services to manage your day to day tasks and control home automation, you need to give the voice commands following the wake word. But sometimes, Alexa does not respond to the user’s commands. There are certain steps that you need to follow as a precaution to deal with the Alexa device not responding issue. These steps will help you to bring Alexa back to its normal working condition and she will start listening to your commands again and respond accordingly. Here are the steps:
- The first thing you have to check and make sure that you are using the right power adaptor for your Alexa device. The local adaptors do not provide enough power supply to the application to turn on due to which it is unable to work in a proper manner.
- Now, Turn on the device and hit the Action button present on the top. Check whether your device is responding or not.
- If your Alexa device is not responding to your voice commands, you have to check and make sure that your device is kept at least 3 feet away from the speakers. If you place the Amazon Echo speakers in the close distance, Alexa may not respond to your voice commands due to difficulty in hearing the commands.
- Another thing you have to check and make sure that you have placed your Alexa device away from the walls and windows. Also, keep your device dust free; this can damage the speakers due to which your device will stop responding. Moreover, it can also destroy the Echo system voice path and Alexa may not be able to listen to your commands due to obstruction.
- Keep your speakers away from the loud noise as this could be the possible reason due to which Alexa is not responding to your voice commands.
- Make sure that your voice is natural and clear while giving any command to Alexa so that she could understand it properly and respond back.
- Last but not the least, the Alexa device and Echo system away from the vocal output especially radio, microphone, television and other connected devices. This could also be the reason due to which Alexa may not respond to the user’s voice commands.
